Ofsted Registration Renewal

June 29, 2012 at 5:45 pm

This week I was contacted by a reader of Nannynick.com who asked about Ofsted registration renewal.     I love getting questions from my readers, so if you have questions do send them my way.

Nannies can be on the Ofsted Childcare Register and I have an unofficial guide to registration available to help you through completing the registration form.

The registration is an annual cost, you need to pay the fee every year.  If you no longer need to be registered, then contact Ofsted and resign your registration.

When renewing your registration make sure you ask Ofsted to send you a payment receipt.  This they send via standard post and you need it because you will need to prove that you are still registered.  Childcare Vouchers is a common reason for why a nanny is registered with Ofsted and the company providing the voucher scheme will want evidence each year that you are registered by Ofsted.  Unfortunately the voucher companies do not have access to Ofsted’s database system, so they can not confirm registration status.  Ofsted’s website does list information about Home Childcarer’s but it does not give real-time information about registration status.   So you need the payment receipt as evidence that you have paid the fee, thus helping to convince the voucher company that you are still Ofsted registered.

If you do not renew your registration then your employer can not continue to pay you using childcare vouchers or tax credits.

Ofsted send out the renewal form to your Home Address, so if you move home, do keep them informed of your address.
